Marc E. Bassyās upcoming second independent album, āLittle Men,ā explores instrumentation and narrative in a new way for Bassy, as he blends his R&B/Pop sound with dance/funk of the 70ās and 80ās and fine-tuned vocalperformance. Bassyās team created the albumās key songs in a Palm Springs house – DāAngelo, David Bowie and the Beatles in the speakers, Wes Anderson projected on the walls, modular synthesizers blending with acoustic guitar. After experimenting with new equipment and instruments and writing around 80 songs with some of the worldās bestmusicians, Bassy landed on the final genre-bending handful.
Lyrically, āLittle Menā talks of reconciling with oneās ego. The little mind, driven by fear, thinks of itself in comparisonand in competition – in pursuit of an unrealistic and shallow idea of success and perfection, as opposed to engaging with empathy and toward community. āLittle menā is a confessional, a reality check, a series of experiences involving infidelity, addiction, jealousy against a backdrop of fame, passion, beauty, and triumph.
